The land is life for indigenous peoples that caries their identity, culture, spiritual and communal meaning. But the collective lands of Indigenous Peoples of Nepal have been grabbed day by day that created serious threats on their identities, culture and existence.
The Indigenous Peoples have their spiritual connection with their lands. Terai Indigenous Peoples of Nepal such as Tharu, Shanthal, Rajbamshi, Dhimal in particular have their own sacred sites where they perform their cultural, ritual functions every year. But, those sacred sites are being encroached rapidly by the outsiders, religious groups, private sectors, state lead development activities and even by individuals. The affected Indigenous Peoples are defending their lands. LAHURNIP has been proving legal support to protect their lands.
