On 20 March 2022, a national dialogue was held in Kathmandu on the National Action Plan for the Development of Indigenous Peoples. The plan is developed considering the ILO-169, UN declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Sustainable Development Goals, and constitutional and legal provisions linked to Indigenous Peoples.
The plan has been developed by the National Coordination Committee that composed of 7 members (National Human Rights Commission –NHRC, National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities- NFDIN, Indigenous Nationalities Commission, Tharu Commission, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities -NEFIN and LAHURNIP)
The objectives of the dialogue were to share the plan and gather feedback on. The plan is going to be submitted to the government of Nepal as recommendations of Indigenous Nationalities Commission, Tharu Commission in collaboration with LAHURNIP and NFDIN. Advocate Shakar Limbu, secretary of LAHURNIP, has presented the plan in detail.
Representatives of the Indigenous Peoples Organizations, Indigenous leaders, development professionals, university professors and indigenous experts, leaders of different political parties, members of the NHRIs, NFDIN and parliamentarians contributed to the dialogue.
The dialogue was organized in joint collaboration with Indigenous Nationalities Commission, Tharu Commission, LAHURNIP and NFDIN
