Advocate Rai – who belongs to Rai Indigenous Peoples of Eastern Nepal – is a highly experienced lawyer. He has been practicing law in Supreme and other courts for the past 25 years. He is also a legal advisor of different Indigenous Peoples Organizations. He holds Master of Law (LLM) from Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal.
He served as a section officer in the Supreme Court and the Secretary of the Central Committee of Kirat Rai Yayokkha (KRY) – Representative Organization of Rai Indigenous Peoples. He has done several policy research studies relating to the rights of Indigenous Peoples and development.
He is one of the key lawyers who has been contributing to the legal litigation process for the justice of affected Indigenous and local communities. He is a training expert on human rights and fundamental freedoms of Indigenous Peoples in particular.
Currently, he is serving as National Coordinator of Indigenous Peoples' Human Rights Defenders (IPHRDs) Net-work of Nepal and the Secretary of LAHURNIP
